Overview
In this document, the concepts and processes of utilizing Part Number Barcodes with Quantities will be discussed.
-
Users can now associate a quantity with the alternative barcodes for a part number. When adding a barcode the default qty will be 1 but the user will have the ability to assign any qty.
-
Users are now able to scan the barcode with a specific qty and that quantity will appear on the line item.
-
This feature will help make volume based price breaks easier to apply to orders.
Assumptions
We will assume throughout this article that the user utilizes scanners and barcodes.
General Concepts
Set Up - Item Manager
-
To set up barcodes with quantities (qty/s) for a part number, the user will pull up that part number in the Item Manager screen.
-
Adding and deleting an “alternative barcode” is handled the same way as before, but now you will have a specific quantity associated with it.
-
When you click Add, you will enter or scan the barcode like normal.
-
Then enter the desired qty.
- If you want that barcode to have a qty of 1, you can just click ok. The default qty is 1.
-
Now when these barcodes are scanned, they will auto populate the qty field with the assigned qty.

Set Up - New Barcode While Creating a Quote
- By default, you can add a new barcode from a quote by either scanning an unknown barcode or by entering it manually.
Manually Add a New Barcode
-
Click into an empty product line then click on the Settings button in the top menu, General Settings, then by clicking into the Barcode tab.

-
Click Manual Barcode and then enter the code and click ok.

-
Click Yes at this dialog box.
-
Look up and select the part number to associate the barcode to.

-
In the next dialog box, enter the desired qty then click yes.
-
This will add the item code to the line with the qty entered for the barcode.

General Use
-
When adding products to a quote or RFQ, you can scan the barcode and the associated qty will auto populate in the appropriate field.
-
If you scan the same barcode multiple times, the qty will refresh in the same line.
- For example a barcode set for 10 units will add 10 units for each scan.
-
If you scan a different barcode (same part number, different qty), a new line will appear with a different qty.
